Where can I find a good tourist map showing the sites?
Hi, i’m going to London in about two weeks and have a whole afternoon and night free for sightseeing, as well as a few hours to fill the next morning. We’re going on a tour in the morning which means we will see most of the main attractions, but since we also have other free time, we’d quite like to look around on our own.
Where can I find a good map showing the sites that is fairly easy to read and follow? If possible, also to be printed out? Thanks in advance for any answers.
Oh, and the tour ends at Westminster Abbey so it would be handy to find out whats around there

thank you, that really helps. We’ve never been to london before, so thanks for giving us some kind of starting point.
Althought alot of people on here would jump down my throat telling me I’m stupid for suggesting this (and I’ll explain why in a minute). But you can get a printed map with all the attractions on it from a machine at the side of the platform on the London Underground. Not every station has these machines, but it’s a good quality map and they usually only cost about £1.
The reason people will disagree with this idea is that the Tube is pretty old, and so are these machines. Sometimes they swollow your money without any product coming out. So instead, you could go to one of the Travel Information Centres provide by TfL, and they can provide you with maps, tickets and even book you tours. (See link below).
After getting off the tour bus in Parliament Sq, go for a walk. Heres a suggested walking tour you could take.
From Westminster Abbey, you can explore the area around Parliament, including Parliament Square and Downing Street. From Downing Street, walk along Whitehall up to Trafalgar Sq, take a look at Nelsons Column and maybe have a look round the National Gallery.
From Trafalgar Square, then you could walk down the Mall, towards Buckingham Palace. To the left of the Mall, you have St James Park, where you could enjoy feeding the ducks and squirrals. Then you could enjoy a cold drink in the park, before walking back along Birdcage Walk to Parliament Sq, across Westminster Bridge and have a ride on the London Eye.
I would suggest riding the Eye in the evening, as when the sun starts to set, the view becomes even better than during the day. If you book your Eye tickets in advance online, you’ll save yourself 10%, and you can collect them on the day from a ticket machine.
